The Linguistic Society of America was recently notified of a security vulnerability within Drupal, the content management system used to run the LSA website. To avoid any security issues, on October 20 the LSA applied a system update to fix the vulnerability.

No financial data is ever stored on the LSA website, and therefore, no financial information has been compromised. Though there is no indication that any other data was retrieved from the LSA website, and all LSA passwords are stored with encryption, as a precaution we are requiring all members with an LSA account to reset and change their password. To reset your password, please take the following steps:

  1. Click on the “Member Login” link at the top of this page.
  2. Click on the “Request new password” tab beneath the word “Home.”
  3. Enter your Username in the "Username or e-mail address" field.
  4. Complete the CAPTCHA and click on the red "E-mail new password" button.
  5. You will be sent an e-mail containing a link which will allow you to change your password to one of your own choosing. Please open this e-mail and click on the link provided within 24 hours of requesting a new password. If you do not receive this e-mail within a few minutes of requesting it, please check your e-mail spam filter. If the e-mail is not in your spam filter, please contact the LSA Secretariat at lsa@lsadc.org or by phone at 202-835-1714 to have your password reset manually.
  6. After clicking on the link, verify that your email address is correct, enter a new password, then enter the password a second time for verification.
  7. Finally, click the red "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

All LSA members should also receive an email with password reset instructions. If you have any questions about the reset process or related issues, please feel free to contact us using the email or phone numbers above. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and secure website for the LSA membership.
