The LSA is delighted to announce the winners of the 2020 Student Abstract Award, in conjunction with our upcoming 2020 Annual Meeting in New Orleans!  This award recognizes the three best abstracts submitted by a student for a paper or poster presentation at the Annual Meeting.  The awards will be presented at a special ceremony in New Orleans. The abstracts and their authors, pictured below from left to right, are:

• 1^st place:  Unifying Prosodic and Segmental Repair: Metathesis and Epenthesis in Uab Meto, Kate Mooney (New York University)
• 2d place: Case properties of Complex Event Nominalizations in Lithuanian, Milena Šereikaitė (University of Pennsylvania)
• 3^rd place:  Linguist-speech pathologist collaboration as service-in-return to speakers of minority languages, Anna Bax (University of California, Santa Barbara)

Instituted in 2010, the Student Abstract Award provides $500 to the student who submits the highest-rated abstract, and $300 for the authors of the abstracts rated second and third. Every abstract for the Annual Meeting authored solely by students is automatically considered for this award; no nominations are required. All abstracts submitted for the annual meeting are rated, blindly, by external reviewers and the LSA Program Committee. The Student Abstract Award winners are recognized in the Handbook for the Annual Meeting.
