The LSA regretfully reports that emeritus professor Gary Holland of UC Berkeley has passed away earlier last week.

Professor Holland was an LSA member since 1972 and spent the entirety of his career at the University of California Berkeley after reciving his PhD there in 1980.

He was awarded the College of Letters and Sciences “Distinguished Service Award” in 2014, notably playing a significant role in the department of Linguistics at UC Berkeley as well as campus-wide.
