Laurels for Linguists: LSA Members Elected to Prestigious Academies

The LSA congratulates its members and colleagues on their recent election to two of the most prestigious academies in the United States: The National Academy of Sciences (NAS), and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAA&S).
Elected to NAS
- John Rickford, Past President and Fellow of the LSA; Wallace Sterling Professor of Linguistics and the Humanities, emeritus, department of linguistics, Stanford University
- Luigi Rizzi, Honorary Member of the LSA (1992); Professor of linguistics at the University of Siena, and Honorary Professor at the University of Geneva
Elected to AAA&S
- John Baugh, Vice-President/President-Elect, Fellow, and Life Member of the LSA; Professor of Psychology, Anthropology, Education, English, Linguistics, and African and African-American Studies, Margaret Bush Wilson Professor in Arts & Sciences, Washington University in St. Louis
